Goodhousekeeping.com

Good Housekeeping (.com) did a nice little piece on how to clean your water bottle. They offer solutions like buying a bottle brush or cleaning tablets…and then they highlight ALEX as the innovative bottle that doesn’t require either of those options.
We don’t think you should have to have a brush at your sink JUST for your water bottle, and we definitely don’t think you should spend money on a cleaning tablet just because you want a bacteria free bottle.
We think your bottle should be smart enough that you can actually clean it without extra props. With ALEX, you buy the bottle and that’s it. So simple, right?

ALEX Bottle wins a 2011 Green Good Design Award!

ALEX wins a 2011 Green Good Design Award, making our grand total 4 so far! The Green Good Design award means a lot to us because ALEX truly is being recognized as one of the worlds leading sustainable good designs. The funny thing is that when we were creating ALEX, we had no idea if people would love it or hate it. We loved it and were proud of it…but had no idea what the reaction would be. We’re happy to see that we’re not the only ones. Thanks Anvil Studios for making ALEX amazing, and thanks to everyone who has an ALEX Bottle and likes it as much as we do. Cheers!

Foam Magazine

Not sure what it is, but we foam at the mouth every time we open Foam Magazine. They always have awesome content and great products…so when we found out that ALEX Bottle was going to be featured, we drank a lot of water to prevent excessive mouth foam. While the water kept us hydrated, we still got foamy. A nice little mention; ALEX Bottle Co-Founder Gretchen Bleiler’s signature Holga Camera was also featured. Such a cool camera. We actually had someone reach out to us about using ALEX as a film developing canister…hmmmm. Another ALEX Bottle use case?

Prevention Magazine

ALEX Bottle graces the pages of Prevention Magazine for their “Breakthrough Bottles” feature. We love Prevention mag…and they want you to find a water bottle you’ll love. ALEX Bottle made the cut due to it’s cutting edge ability to be cleaned easily. ALEX prevents hydration and prevents you from dealing with smelly, hard to clean water bottles. Prevention Magazine helps prevent you from buying bogus stuff. Nice.

ALEX Bottle wins a Red Dot Award!

We’re excited and proud to announce that our ALEX Bottle has won a prestigious Red Dot Award in the category of Leisure, Outdoor and Sport! We want to give a huge shout out to our amazing design team Anvil Studios out of Seattle who took our vision and made it a beautiful reality. If you have some more time to kill, then check out the whole press release below!

March 30th, 2011

(Carlsbad, CA) – ALEX Bottle is proud to announce the win of a prestigious red dot design award this week, taking top honors in the category of Leisure, Outdoor and Sport. ALEX is the first and only reusable bottle with patent pending Clean Seam Technology™ (CST), which allows ALEX to open in the middle for tremendously  easy cleaning. The CST also enables ALEX to compact itself into half its size by inverting and nesting the bottom half inside the top for smaller storage/traveling. ALEX’s 32oz and 20oz sizes can also be mixed and matched to make a third,  mid-size 26oz bottle allowing for further customization and personalized colorways.

Nice Reusables, a company started by Chris Hotell, his mother Marta Hotell and wife Gretchen Bleiler, approached Anvil Studios in 2009 to design the ALEX Bottle after becoming frustrated with the process of trying to clean reusable water bottles. Of the product’s inception, Chris states that, “Other bottles are so difficult to clean and you never really get all the bacteria out. Eventually the bottles start to smell and you throw them away. If we want people to take on sustainable habits then we need to make sustainability simple. ALEX does that.”

The Red Dot is the third design award for the ALEX Bottle this year, with the first two being a 2010 Good Design Award, and a 2011 Housewares Design Award, Best in Category for “Tabletop and Beverageware.” Because design was such an important part of the creation process, this recognition is a huge honor for ALEX and Anvil Studios. As Greg Janky and Treasure Hinds from Anvil Studios states, “Chris’ idea was a face-palm moment for us. In addition to developing a functionally smarter bottle, we strove to make it equally beautiful. By playing up the mid-body split, we were able to create a visually descriptive bottle that became instantly iconic.”

ALEX Bottles are currently being sold through select retailers nationwide and across  Canada, as well as online at www.alexbottle.com.

Nice Reusables Inc (NRI) is a Carlsbad, California based parent company focused on developing products that make sustainability simple. The ALEX Bottle is their first endeavor.

Anvil Studios is a Seattle-based partnership between Greg Janky +Treasure Hinds, both accomplished industrial designers with a passion for creating contemporary, elegant and iconic product designs.

foodnow!

ALEX was featured in today’s foodnow! eblast. While we were very excited about that, we may have been a bit more excited about the feature on decorating cakes. I think we’re a little hungry over here.
